Found this restaurant on yelp, and we were so pleasantly surprised. The food was light and flavorful, not greasy! The chicken was very well cooked and fresh, and the tamale was the best I have ever had. Loved the atmosphere (a live band covered the Eagles and Dire Straits while we raved to each other about the food!!). The service was very friendly. The owner came out to have a chat - he was so nice, and was eager to make sure we were happy with everything. He clearly cares a lot about the quality and integrity of his restaurant. We will definitely come again the next time we are in the area.

I really like this place! We randomly went there with a friend one afternoon and now just keep coming back. We really like it as a place to take friends and family when they come up to visit. The food is delicious, the drinks are tasty, the service is a bit slow at times but always pleasant and courteous. I am a big fan!

Every time we come up from CA, we stop here. Great food, yummy drinks, and a fabulous owner. Try a Peruvian dish, then ask the owner to sing.

I really like this place! Peruvian options, friendly and warm service, and a prompt refill on chips and salsa whenever you start running low.

great food, and perfect margaritas! can't beat that combination. Plus the owner is a really nice person with a lovely voice. What's not to like?

Stopped here during our drive down the Oregon coast. The only problem is, we don't live close enough to come back! Superior service, the food is top notch and so very tasty. The beans are actually pressure cooked, not from a can! The meat on the fajitas so so tender. Mmmmmm! Highly recommend! At first, looked a little sketch from the outside, but don't keep that from coming in!

Very disappointed!!! with the chicken enchiladas . I will not be ordering again! I also didn't know but the taxi company charged me $10 alone for delivery so I ended up paying close to $50 for 3 meals That should of cost only maybe $20 if that much. I recommend the other Mexican restaurant behind the pony village mall They are way better price and taste!

Great to find La Costa open on a Sunday. We missed seeing our friend Rafael but the staff still did the same great job taking care of us. Same great food; same friendly attentive service. La Costa continues to one one of our handful of go-to eateries in the Bay Area.

Rafael treated us like family and the food was very good. I tried the mesquite chicken burrito...wow. very good. He asked how spicy i liked my food, "very" was my answer, and very was my food. I like it here. Beer was ice cold too

Oh the food was sooooooo good!! The beans and rice, ooooooohhh so good!! I ordered the Chicken Mole. This IS the BEST I HAVE EVER EATEN!! The sauce was perfect, the flavor was way above excellent, the portion was just right for dinner. My daughter's taco and rice (kid portion) with rice and beans was very good. My husband had one of his usuals, the Chimichanga and Chicken enchilada worth rice and beans. He said it was good and the guacamole was really tasty. We Will be back to try the other items on the menu, there were so many that sounded so good!! And the Margaritas were exceptional... The owner took our order and he was soooo nice. I will say that I really had one of the Best meals ever . Thank -you!!

Such a sweet guy who runs this fab little restaurant! The energy was very happy and inviting. I got a combo plate with a chile rellano. Of course! I'm still searching for the perfect rellano!!! This one here was cheesy, fresh ( they don't ever freeze them!), and only slightly fried, so no greasiness. They're rice is not your average Spanish rice, it is more like a white rice with yummy seasonings. I think that is Peruvian! Tacos were fab as well, bigdaddy got a chile rellano taco, which was just that.... A chile rellano in a soft corn tortilla with taco toppings. How did it turn into something so devilishly perfect? :) speaking of perfect...I got the perfect margarita...and...well...I was in a tequila coma FAST, yes I'm a cheap date, but geez!!! Them Peruvians put the smack down with their tequila!! Mama likes!!!

This place is a American Mexican Peruvian restaurant in North Bend. The owner(Rafael)is a passionate businessman that is customer driven.I have never tried the Mexican food here,I always go for the Peruvian dishes. Seco de Cordero(Lamb),Pato al Aji(Duck) and the Peruvian Ceviche. The food is always tasty and they give you plenty. I really like the salsa they give you with chips to start. The salsa taste like it has clam juice in it? I always ask for more and Rafael is happy to bring it on! YUM......

This was the worst service I have encountered. Although the staff was mice we were not offered menu's for 30 minutes our food took well over an hour to cone by them we were ready to leave.

I really cant say much for this place. Kind of greasy spoon version of a Mexican restaurant. The rice was stale and there was no toilet paper in the bathrooms.

This is just your average Mexican food. Took forever to get waited on and the place was hardly busy. Enchiladas came out luke warm and the rice tasted old. May be I will give it one more shot and try Peruvian dishes.

We came in for the Peruvian food, lomo saltado to be exact. I ordered it with beef, and asked to have the french fries mixed in with the lomo saltado, like I've always had it at other places. The food did take quite a while, but it was hot and fresh, so I couldn't complain. It definitely cured my Peruvian craving. The Peruvian lemonade is good, very refreshing. They also have Peruvian beer! The owner always greets each table, and even sings! Each time I come to town to visit family, I eat here (twice on this trip). Definitely worth trying this place!

Waited on by manager, was very nice but made us wait FOREVER to take our order. Ordered margaritas that were ok but way over priced. Manager never came back to ask if we wanted refills. We were sharing fajitas and they only brought us 3 tortillas for the two of us...lame. just go to Los Dos Amigos....better service food and margiritas.... and your bill will be about $12 cheaper. Not going back.

I'm not sure why this place has 4 stars. The food was beyond nasty. We had the chicken and it came with two sides. 1 the chicken tasted like it's been reheated a few times and like it was made a week ago. The sides were next to nothing. A Lil salad and a Lil bit of rice. I got full on the chips and salsa. The only thing cool about this place is that the owner sings randomly but then again it gets a Lil annoying. You can tell he's trying to hard. We will never ever go back to place. This is why I don't try new things. Just sad

Enjoyed trying Peruvian food for the first time. My son went for more traditional Mexican food and enjoyed his dish too. The only drawback was the seats in the booth. A huge woman got into the booth behind me and I was in real fear that the booth would break.

We had great service from the owner himself who also was very friendly, even gave us free crabs to go. Good food too!

Good, small town food. Great margaritas. A business and restaurant owner that you will want to and should support. We are from out of town. I love Mexican food. We stopped in and had a very good lunch with a couple of awesome margaritas. We were served by the owner who was as pleasant as can be, and clearly loves his work and his heritage. Support this business

A small Mexican restaurant located near the center of North Bend. On first glance, it looks like any other americanized Mexican restaurant, but when you get to the last page of the menu, I was pleasantly surprised by a small number of Peruvian specialties. It was definitely a nice change of pace. There are a small number of Peruvian dishes served everyday, then every Tuesday and Thursday, the chef will pick a dish from a list of specialties that will be served that evening. The night I went (Monday), I opted for the Peruvian ceviche with a side of beans, rice, and corn tortillas. The waiter recommended the white fish ceviche vs the shrimp or seafood. Instead of my usual ice tea, I opted for the chicha morada, which came out soon after placing my order. The rest of dishes came out after about a 15 minute wait. The chicha morada was good, not too sweet with a hint of mint and cinnamon. The white fish ceviche was about $10 and the portion was large enough for two. It looked simple: fish, onions, lime juice and chili flakes, it tasted great. The beans, rice, and tortillas were pretty standard. After finishing about 60% of the ceviche, I had to take the rest home. All in all, not a bad place if you are in the mood for south of the border fare but looking for something different than the usual Mexican.

So very good! Came in for the Peruvian menu and ordered Chica Morada, Inca Kola, Lomo Saltado, y Ceviche. Everything was delicious! My DD doesn't generally like fish but she loved the ceviche. The beef was tender and the rice was good too. We'd recently dined at La Mar in San Fran & my kids and I agreed the food here was as good for a fraction of the price. We'll be back often!

Food is excellent. Service is excellent. But I left my sunglasses on the table and came back for them within ten minutes and they were magically "GONE". I will say that I'm upset do to losing my sun glasses but that will not halter my opinion of this wonderful place. The owner has a great singing voice and I love the perfect margaritas!!!

We just weren't in the mood for clam chowder, and so this time in North Bend we decided to check out La Costa. What a great surprise find! I ordered a scallop dish over Peruvian rice--delicious! My sister got a dish with bacon-wrapped shrimp. Great atmosphere, and Rafael, the owner and host, really makes you feel special and welcome. Guess the only thing I'd change if I could was the music. Peru has great music, so why does Rafael choose America classic rock/pop? But I guess that's a personal preference. The food and ambiance were really great and I'll be back!

Curiosity about this place combined with a change of ownership and an opportunity to try them out, so here's the skinny on what LaCosta is up to these days. I ordered up a fish taco and a Peruvian shimp platter with rice and beans. The fish taco was the best taste explosion I have had this year! The heat did not interfere with the rich spicy flavor. If you want to wake up the taste buds, the fish taco is killer! The Peruvian shrimp platter was mostly disappointing. 4 shrimp for a $10 dish? C'mon man! You gotta give up the meat to us diners! The rice and beans sides were lousy. I could get Rice-A-Roni's Spanish rice and Rosarita's Refried Beans from Safeway and serve folks something better than La Costa's slop. The plus was the earthy spice tastes for the Peruvian shrimp, which was served with well browned onions and mushrooms. I never did see the bell peppers mentioned on the menu. For interior decor, this place is bottom of the barrel since the building started life as a Skipper's. The other Mexican places I have reviewed here in CB-NB totally blow this place out of the water for appearances. Service is friendly if understaffed and the owner is a nice enough guy. They serve mixed drinks and beer but who is stupid enough to drink and drive these days? Try to pull out of the lot onto Newmark without coming close to an accident, I dare you! Lord knows if you get in one after enjoying a single drink, guess what's going to happen to you? La Costa is a flip a coin kind of place. Flip one to see if you will go there and if you do, flip a coin to see what you order up. Maybe you will get lucky! It's a 50/50 kind of place after all...LOL!

We were staying at the Comfort Inn and saw the menu in their directory. The Comfort Inn is a 4 star review also, by the way. We walk in at 8:30 on a Saturday and are welcomed with a live band and a very welcoming owner! We decided to go with Peruvian dishes. It is not every day that I get the chance. The owner came over and explained some of the dishes and highly recommended everything, of course. He was not wrong. I had the ceviche. Not sure of the type of fish, but it was fresh for sure. Very simple ceviche: 1 type of fish with red onions and lime. It was served with white sweet potatoes and an ear of corn. Such a light and healthy dish! Friend 1 had the bistek encebollado. The meat was flavorful and tender. The rice and beans were both delicious sides and not at all like the standard rice and bean filler usually served. The grilled tomatoes were an extra treat! Friend 2 went with the traditional mexicanfare and had the sopa de albondigas. The broth was flavorful but not too salty and the meatballs were very savory. Throughout our meal the owner continued to check on us and make sure our meal was satisfactory. We definitely felt like valued customers! I will be coming back to try the pisco sour next time!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
